Safe water borehole for Kpeteroteen, Savannah Region
The community of Kpeteroteen in the Savannah Region have finally received their safe water borehole. In December 2025, after years of relying on diseased river water and making dangerous journeys in the dark, more than 200 community members now have access to clean, potable water.
Safe water borehole for Kpeteroteen, Savannah Region
The over 200 strong community of Kpeteroteen, like similar communities, have seen their annual water resources shrink and dry up for long periods due to climatic changes. Having nowhere else to move to, they have been suffering real hardships due to the unsafe diseased water that has become the norm for them.

In December 2025, the over 200 strong community of Kpeteroteen saw all of that change. They now enjoy the basic necessity of life, having safe water for the first time. No more the suffering of walking long distances, no more lateness and sickness from school, no more constant worrying about where to look for water — and no more water-borne diseases. The water yield from the new borehole is providing a good, sustainable source of water and is a sign of a healthy water table.
This seemingly impossible dream has been made possible by the generosity of donors who wished to change lives and make a difference.

For Dababanibe, a woman in her 50s, having water in their own community means relief, and she believes that development will now come.
Yaw Jolante vowed to the donors that the community will make sure they take care of the borehole.
For Theresa Dabile, she is grateful for the water as she will no longer have to wake at 3am to search for water in the stream. The borehole has ended their suffering.

Our thanks once again to Sahara Advocates of Change for overseeing this project on behalf of Ghana Outlook.
