Safe water borehole for Dabogyiri, Wa West District, Upper West Region
One of the oldest settlements in the Wa West District, Dabogyiri, is now enjoying one of life's basic needs — safe water. There will be no more suffering from drinking muddy water from a stream, or walking far in search of a cleaner source.
Safe water borehole for Dabogyiri, Wa West District, Upper West Region
One of the oldest settlements in the Wa West District is now enjoying one of life’s basic needs — safe water. The inhabitants of Dabogyiri are now served by their own borehole. There will be no more suffering from drinking muddy water drawn from a stream, nor the long walks in search of a better source. There will be no more water-borne diseases to deal with in this difficult and challenging environment. All water tests have been carried out and have proved positive, with the water classed as safe to drink.

This seemingly impossible dream of the community has been made possible by the generosity of donors — including Rotary clubs — who wished to change lives and make a difference.
For Yelpaala, a woman in her 60s, having water in their own community means no more children trekking long distances in search of water; they can now concentrate on school and their education.
For Paulina Dery, she is grateful for the water as there will be no more long, hard trips to the stream and back — she can simply walk nearby to fetch her safe water.

The entire school of Dabogyiri Primary School expressed their gratitude for the borehole, as the children will no longer be absent and tired in class from the time spent looking for water. Sickness levels will now be much reduced and education will be their priority.

Our thanks once again to Sahara Advocates of Change for overseeing this project on behalf of Ghana Outlook.
